Bethlehem Township Police Department is seeking witnesses to a tragic accident that occurred earlier this week.

SEEKING WITNESSES – BICYCLIST DIES AS A RESULT OF COLLISION WITH VAN

On Thursday, October 12, 2017, at approximately 08:36 pm, Bethlehem Township Police investigated a motor vehicle / bicyclist crash near the intersection of SR2020 Easton Avenue and Butztown Road, near the Butztown Post Office.

Matthew Palmer, age 17 of Coopersburg, was driving west on Easton Avenue in a 2002 Honda Odyssey van. Bicyclist Matthew Pagan, age 33 of Santee Road in Bethlehem Township, was traveling east along Easton Avenue. At some point in time, the bicycle operator Pagan crossed over from the east bound lane into the west bound lane and collided with the west bound van operated by Palmer.

Pagan, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to the trauma center at St. Luke’s University Hospital – Fountain Hill with serious traumatic injuries. Friday morning, October 13, 2017 Pagan died as of those injuries.

This crash is still under investigation and investigators are seeking witnesses.
