LIVING COLOUR live at NEW HOPES HAVANA

“Hard-charging rockers Living Colour are taking the stage at Havana on Oct. 12, and word is that their music-with-a-message funk metal sound still rings true.

Founder Vernon Reid remains a force of nature on lead guitar, Corey Glover is on vocals, Will Calhoun is on drums, and Doug Wimbish, who started in 1992, plays bass. Their sixth and latest studio album “Shade” was released on Sept. 8 — their first in eight years.

Reid formed the band in 1984 in New York City, and the group’s early sound was jazzy, funky and punky. The band evolved over time with the addition of Glover and Calhoun, and a series of gigs at CBGB. The year 1988 saw the release of their signature album “Vivid,” which included the hit “Cult of Personality,” and the band opened for the Rolling Stones during their “Steel Wheels” tour.”
