Today is Fasnacht day! The word “Fasnacht” is an English name for a type of fried doughnut. Traditionally, Fanacht’s are served the day before Lent begins, the excuse being that they’re a way to get rid of lard, fat, sugar, and butter, which were traditionally fasted from during Lent. Regardless of your traditions or faith, Fasnacht day is a fun excuse to eat a doughnut or four. This coming Sunday, Feb. the 26th, the 3rd Annual Girl Scout Cookie Crunch will be held at the SteelStacks in Bethlehem. This year, sixteen restaurants will be selling delicious dishes made from Girl Scout Cookies. Attendees can vote for their favorite dishes, and those who are 18 or under can vote for the winner of the Kid’s choice award. As a bonus, all adults will receive a box of S’Mores®, and will have a chance to meet Lucy Chelton, Girl Scout Junior and winner from the Food Network show “Chopped Jr.”. Ticket prices are $30 for adults, $25 for ArtsQuest Members, $15 for children 12 and under, and current Girl Scouts ages 17 and under.
