The Department of Environmental Protection has issued a a Code Orange Air Quality Alert for areas South and East of the immediate Lehigh Valley. This is due to ground level Ozone affecting our region on Wednesday May 17th. An air quality alert means that air quality in the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration would like to remind the public that May is National Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. Motorcycle incidents have been on the rise nearly 10% in the past 20 years according to the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. Motorcycles travel approximately 21 million miles a year and only count for 5% of registered vehicles on the road. On April 23rd 2017, an earthquake occurred 3 kilometers (1.8 miles) East, Southeast of Millersville, Pa in Lancaster County. It was a magnitude 2.3 earthquake and was 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) deep. No injuries were reported and there was no damage done to structures. It did create hundreds of calls to the 911 center in Lancaster County and surrounding areas.
