Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and PennDOT are seeking volunteers for this year’s Great American Cleanup of PA. According to gacofpa.org, participants can help by cleaning up trash and litter along area roadsides, parks, streams and neighborhoods.
Registered cleanup events are happening all over PA from now until May 31st. All needed supplies such as gloves, trash bags and safety vests and provided free of cost by PennDOT.
Since 2004 the Department of Environmental Protection and PennDOT have teamed up to sponsor 2-month long event. Since then, almost 2 million volunteers have picked up and removed about 92 million pounds of litter and trash.
The Great American Cleanup also encourages school groups, church groups, sports teams and other community organizations to organize their members and participate.
