The reunion created by Dale and Bob Snyder in 2010 has grown beyond all original expectations as an event that takes the Dorney and Mahoning community back down memory lane. The Reunion has become one of the Museums biggest single day events and will honor the stars of Dorney Park Speedway and Mahoning Valley Speedway. A display of race cars will be held on the museum grounds and all cars from any type of racing old or new are welcome to display their machines. Race Cars are still invited to participate by calling the Museum. Show starts promptly at 11a.m.
When Dorney Park Speedway closed in 1986, there was an entire field of race cars, drivers, owners, crew members and race fans that suddenly had no place to race. Mahoning Valley Speedway located in Lehighton, PA was a natural fit. The speedway had not operated since the 1960’s but the track was there although in dilapidated condition. Ward and Dot Crozier, with roots from Dorney Park and Nazareth Speedway, realized the timing was perfect to bring back the track. They completely refurbished the track and brought to life racing in 1987. They had all the ingredients for success with everyone from Dorney Park coming to Mahoning. Dorney Park Speedway had come back from the ashes and was reborn 25 miles to the North in Lehighton, PA. Because of this connection between Dorney Park Speedway and Mahoning Valley Speedway it was only fitting to combine the Dorney Park Reunion and Hall of Fame with Mahoning Valley Speedway and establish a Mahoning Hall of Fame at America On Wheels Museum states Museum Executive Director, Linda Merkel. She adds that Bob and Dale Snyder have been involved in racing photography and racing videos for many years. They still continue to keep the memories alive through this event and their ongoing work.
