ABOUT THE LEHIGH VALLEY
WGOLV Proudly supports our Veterans, First Responders and our Military
Nestled among two mountain ridges; the Blue Mountains to the north and South Mountain to the south lies the Lehigh Valley, the third most populous metropolitan area in Pennsylvania. It is part of the Great Appalachian Valley and formed by the beautiful, Lehigh River ; a name which was given by the Lenni-Lenape Indian tribe who hunted and fished the land prior to the German immigrants who settled in the Lehigh Valley in the first half of he 1700's. The Lehigh Valley is 40 miles long and 20 miles wide.
The Lehigh Valley is home to Musikfest, the nations largest music festival which draws thousands of visitors every summer. Crayola, Just Born, Air Products, Amazon, Mack Trucks, ArtsQuest are just some of many companies located in the Lehigh Valley.
Each year numerous farmers markets can be found within the Lehigh Valley featuring produce from our local farms. It's also home to many colleges and Universities, wineries, breweries, restaurants, cafes and coffee shops as well as the historic Hotel Bethlehem located in downtown Bethlehem. Downtown Bethlehem, otherwise known as "Christmas City" is a charming city which has been featured on the Halmark Channel. At Christmas-time, horse and carriages can be seen up and down Main Street. We also have numerous films that have been produced in the Lehigh Valley.
Lehigh Valley has three main cities - Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton. Within a short drive, you can ski and hike the beautiful Pocono Mountains and within a short time travel to the New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland beaches. Many also commute back and fourth to New York daily which is approximately 2 hours to our west.
The Lehigh Valley is also home to three minor leagues sports teams; the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs, The Lehigh Valley Legends, and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in addition to many high school and college level teams.
We invite you to explore and enjoy the scenic Lehigh Valley as we cover news, weather, traffic, events, entertainment, food and drinks and so much more - You'l find everything you need in one convenient location!

ABOUT LORILEE
The "What's Going on Girl"
My name is LoriLee and I'm the owner, journalist/reporter for What's going on in the Lehigh Valley. I’m also a mom of four and a furbaby I adore.
I love spending time with my family and relatives, going on trips to the beach, going to the drive-in movies, spending time outdoors, nature photography, dancing, and weight lifting. I’m also a football mom and love watching my son play football. I’ve studied music, and dance and have been involved in theater and film.
My furbaby, Ginger ❤️
What’s going on in the Lehigh Valley started as a hobby for me back in 2011 and it’s now grown to over 70,000 followers on Facebook alone. It’s been a passion of mine for many years. Most nights you'll find me up until 2 or 3 in the morning writing and working on it throughout the day in between time with my family/kids and weight training (bodybuilding) - which I love. I'm also part of Bodybuilders Against Drugs. (BAD). On weekends I'm usually out covering various events.
Throughout the years, I’ve provided news (local, Pennsylvania, and National News) to the Lehigh Valley, promoted events, and entertainment (have been a music promoter for years), and helped families that have experienced tragedies by helping to raise funds through their GoFundMe accounts, get word out on missing persons (I’ve worked closely with Wolfpack Search and Recovery – a wonderful organization in the Lehigh Valley), missing pets, new businesses, restaurants and so much more. My passion has been to bring the Lehigh Valley together as a community, grow the local economy, and provide a wonderful resource for those living here as well as those visiting the area.
I graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Elementary Education and have taught in the Lehigh Valley as well as on the Hopi Indian Reservation in Keams Canyon, Arizona. In addition to teaching, I've worked in the hospitality industry and as a naturalist for the Wildlands Conservancy. I' also owned an organic baby boutique and manufactured my own line which I sold all over the world.
As What’s going on in the Lehigh Valley continues to grow, more features will be added to the website, and social media outlets. Additional writers and photographers will be needed as well as student interns.
