A 1500 pound great white by the name of "Breton" spotted swimming off the coast of North Carolina

According to OCEARCH Global Shark Tracker, Breton is visiting the Outer Banks!

Breton pinged in this weekend off Hatteras, NC. They first tagged Breton near Nova Scotia in September 2020 with an electronic tracker, which pings whenever he breaks the water’s surface.

This mature male white shark is joined by many juvenile sharks who have spent the last few weeks in the same region.

This is also the area where OCEARCH plans to be at next month during Expedition Northbound.

According to OCEARCH, many of their animals use the productive continental shelf waters around the Outer Banks, NC as a spring staging area before making their migration north for their summer residency.

OCEARCH is a nonprofit marine research group which provides open-source data about shark migration.
