Police monitor black bear sightings in Bethlehem Township - Video


BETHLEHEM TOWNSHIP, PA


Did you spot a bear in Bethlehem Township?


Bethlehem Township Police announced that they are aware of numerous sightings of a bear within Bethlehem Township. According to the announcement, officers are responding to the numerous calls and monitoring the situation.


There were multiple sightings of the bear near St. Luke's University Hospital (from the sunflower field) to the residential area near Northampton Community College, according to a report by WFMZ News











Nancy Run Fire Company published a video earlier today and stated that the bear had been in the area of Oakland Road and Easton Avenue. (see video below)





Bethlehem Township Pollice announced, "If you see a bear in your neighborhood, do not approach it and call the police department to report it". They also stated. "Be aware of your surroundings and monitor small children and pets". "Do not offer food to the bear".


The Pennsylvania Game Commission has been notified and will respond if necessary. As long as the bear shows no signs of aggression, the Game Commission recommends leaving it alone. It will eventually move out of the area.


Black bear are very common in Pennsylvania.
