School Safety in the Lehigh Valley

Many schools are starting up in the Lehigh Valley and drivers must be very vigilant when driving on the roadways.

As an important reminder, motorists must stop at least 10 feet away from school buses that have their red lights flashing and stop arm extended when they are behind a bus, meeting the bus or approaching an intersection where a bus is stopped.

All school buses in the City of Allentown now have enforcement cameras to capture vehicles that don't stop for school buses, which means if you ignore a school bus when its lights are flashing and stop arm extended, you will be fined. This technology has the ability to capture cars across 8 lanes of traffic.

Please watch out for children as they walk to and from school. Please help keep our kids safe this school year.
