7.2 magnitude earthquake hits Taiwan, tsunami warning issued in Japan

A 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit Taiwan Wednesday morning, according to officials. The earthquake caused power outages in several parts of the capital city, Taipei.

After the earthquake, Japan issued an evacuation advisory for coastal areas near Okinawa due to the tsunami warning.

The US National Tsunami Warning Center is analyzing the event to determine the level of danger for Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, and British Columbia.
