Update - Tragically, the man was located and is deceased, according to authorities. More information will be provided once it is received.
A search is underway on the Appalachian Trail near Blue Mountain Ski Resort this morning for a diabetic male who is lost/missing and needs medical attention, according to Lehigh County dispatchers.
Dispatchers reported that the man was missing shortly after 1:00 am.
Multiple agencies are assisting in the search, according to dispatchers. Pennsylvania State Police in Lehighton have also requested assistance from the Lehigh Township fire department to aid in the search for the missing hiker.
Northampton County Communications officials confirmed the search is in progress on and near Blue Mountain ski area in Palmerton.
