The NWS in Atlanta warned, “Significant ice accumulation on power lines and tree limbs may cause widespread and long-lasting power outages,” “Travel could be nearly impossible.”In Charlotte, snow and sleet accumulations of up to two inches with up to a quarter of an inch of ice are expected. CLT said it would work with nearly 40 snow removal and de-icing vehicles to ensure safe and efficient operations.“As winter weather approaches, #CLTairport will remain open and operational, no matter the conditions,” the airport wrote in a post on X. “Additionally, all parking lots and decks will remain open and will be pretreated to minimize the impact of ice and snow. Passengers are encouraged to check with their airline for flight status updates before arriving at the Airport.”
Dallas Fort Worth International Airport still has over 200 canceled flights.
Several airlines, including Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, American Airlines, JetBlue, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines, Frontier Airlines, and Alaska Airlines, have issued flight waivers for the Southeast in response to the winter storm.
Texas-based American has the most flight cancellations at over 500.
