Legendary "Price is Right" host, Bob Barker passes away at the age of 99



Many are familiar with the name Bob Barker.


According to his longtime publicist, Roger Neal, Barker passed away Saturday morning at his home. He was 99 years old and just a few months shy of his 100th birthday.


For 35 years, he was the legendary game show host of "The Price Is Right", the longest-running game show in U.S. history.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce that the World’s Greatest MC who ever lived, Bob Barker, has left us," Neal said in a statement.


"He had a wonderful life," Neal said.


Barker was raised in South Dakota and Missouri, among other places, before he enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II. It was after that when he returned home to attend Drury University that he got his start in radio.


In addition to serving in World War 11, he worked on ways to improve the plight of abused and exploited animals in the United States and Internationally.


The TV personality battled various health problems in the past few years.

Barker is survived by his half-brother Kent Valandra and half-nephews Robert Valandra and Chip Valandra, as well as a half-niece, Vickie Valandra Kelly.
