Update: 17-year-old dies after falling through roof of supermarket in Exeter Township

According to the Exeter Police Department, a 17-year-old passed away after falling through the roof of a Giant supermarket in Exeter Township..


According to the police, the teenager fell through the skylight and ended up on the ground inside the store. A group of juveniles had gained access to the roof of the store through an adjacent fire escape, police say.


A 17-year-old was injured on Monday when he fell through the roof of a Giant supermarket in Exeter Township. It took place in the 4600 block of Perkiomen Avenue around 1:45 a.m.


A report came through of a partial ceiling collapse and that a man had been injured who fell through the roof.


Emergency crews responded and the teen was taken by ambulance to the Reading Hospital.


Exeter police said a 17-year-old boy was trespassing when he fell through the roof.

No information has been released regarding his medical condition or identity.


Workers were in the store and witnessed the incident. They immediately called 911.


The incident remains under investigation, according to police.
