22-year-old man identified in Thursday's wrong-way crash on Route 22 in Northampton County


Bethlehem, PA


A 22-year-old man died from yesterday's accident on Route 22 at Route 33 in Bethlehem. He is identified as John Michael Woodburn of Bethlehem, PA, according to the Northampton County Coroner, Zachary Lysek. The cause of death was due to multiple blunt force trauma, and the manner of death has been ruled an accident, according to Lysek.


According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the vehicles involved in this motor vehicle crash were the following:


2018 red Chevrolet Silverado: Operated by 58-Year-Old Male from Summit Hill, PA

2002 black Chevrolet Silverado: Operated by 76-Year-Old Male from Wind Gap, PA

1997 Honda Civic: 22-Year-Old Male from Bethlehem, PA (Deceased)


Operators of both the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado and 2002 Chevrolet Silverado were transported to Saint Luke’s Anderson for their injuries.


In an earlier report, Pennsylvania State Police determined a red Chevrolet Silverado

operated by a 58-year-old male from Summit Hill, PA was traveling southbound, on State Route 33 Northbound and exited the ramp from State Route 22 Eastbound to State Route 33 Northbound, traveling in the wrong direction.


Route 22 Eastbound reopened to traffic at approximately 4:15 p.m.


This crash remains under investigation.
