22-year-old Zachari Halkias is running for the State House in the 183rd District

Zachari Halkias is running for state representative in the Lehigh Valley and is one of two candidates in the Republican primary representing the 183rd District.

Zachary is running against incumbent Republican Zach Mako for the party's nomination and says he is the only "true conservative".

As a third-generation Lehigh Valley resident, 22-year-old Zachari Halkias stepped up at a young age to run for the Slatington Borough Council.

Zachari ran on enhancing public safety, creating a more business-friendly environment, and reigniting community involvement. Zachari says his community displayed their trust in him by overwhelmingly electing him, even outperforming an incumbent councilman.

Zachari says he has delivered on all of his campaign promises.

To date, Zachari ended the community police shortage, brought the community together with new annual events, introduced new initiatives, and promoted business-friendly legislation to create a better business environment.

Now as the Borough Council's President Pro-Tem, Zachari is running for state representative to bring that same dedication to providing results, rather than broken promises, to Harrisburg.

Zachari contacted What's going on in the Lehigh Valley for an interview.
