27-year-old Philadelphia man dies as a result of high-speed crash into Lehigh Street dealerships

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - According to a news release from Lehigh County coroner, Daniel Buglio, a 27-year-old Philadelphia man has died as a result of a crash Tuesday evening.


Allentown Police discovered a motor vehicle accident with injuries in the 1900 block of Lehigh Street at approximately 1:06 am April 30.


According to Allentown Police, the operator of the vehicle was sent to the hospital with serious injuries by Allentown EMS and succumbed to his injuries.


Abeil Adilow died shortly after 1 am of multiple injuries sustained in the crash, according to the coroner, and his death was ruled an accident.


The vehicle ended up on its roof at Bennett Automotive Group and was barely recognizable, according to Channel 69 News.


According to preliminary information from the Allentown police, the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed North on Lehigh Street when it left the roadway and struck multiple parked cars.


Damage from the crash is spread across both the Bennett Toyota and Bennett Infiniti dealership parking lots.


Channel 69 News spoke to the president of Bennett Automotive Group.


According to the news article, Bennett said, "I've never seen anything like this” "It's just unbelievable to me that somebody would be driving at that rate of speed in the city of Allentown."


"Getting airborne as he did and land on one of our cars, but again, it could have been a lot worse, but again, my condolences go out to the family of the fella that passed away," Bennett said.

Some of the dealership cars were damaged as a result of the crash and a tent was seen in the parking lot. An Infiniti SUV on display right in front of the dealership building had significant damage.


Lehigh Street was closed between Downyflake Lane and Vultee Street for several hours as authorities investigated.


The Allentown Police Traffic Safety Unit and the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office are currently investigating.
