72-year-old Upper Macungie Township man dies after falling from the top of a grain bin

UPPER MACUNGIE TWP, Pa -


A 72-year-old Upper Macungie Township man passed away Sunday, October 29, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's office.


According to the coroner's report, Dennis Schaffer was pronounced dead on the scene at 10:55 a.m. in the 9000 Block of Main Street in Upper Macungie Township, PA.


The cause of death was ruled as multiple blunt force and traumatic Injuries due to the fall and the manner of death is an accident, according to the media release.

Mr. Schaffer fell approximately 34' off of a grain bin while attempting to repair a malfunctioning unit on top of the grain bin on his property. He slipped off and

fell to the ground at approximately 10:10 a.m., according to the coroner's report.


In addition to the coroner's office, the Upper Macungie Township Police Department is also investigating.
