A beloved bar in the heart of Allentown is closing its doors for the last time

ALLENTOWN, PA -

After many years of serving the Lehigh Valley community, Jabber Jaws Bar and Grille located at 1327 West Chew Street in Allentown will be closing its doors for the last time, according to a Facebook announcement on Saturday.

Jabber Jaws Bar and Grille was founded in 2006 by Scott Banks. MaryAnne Ressler started as a part-time bartender but later became his business partner. Over time, their friendship blossomed into something extraordinary - a thriving and cherished bar and restaurant situated in the heart of Allentown.

Before the establishment of Jabber Jaws, the bar originally was started by Terry and Meline Linder

Jabber Jaws became a place for people to call home. With weekly bike nights, entertainment, food - and special events, people came to love this Allentown establishment (part of the West End Hotel).

Numerous bands and musicians have performed there over the years - many of whom got their start performing live in front of an audience.

In addition to weekly bike nights held during the summer, they held karaoke competitions and offered indoor and outdoor dining. Ceramics and art classes were also held weekly.

During Covid, both Ed and Maryanne worked on remodeling the bar.
