A Flood Watch is in effect for the Lehigh Valley due to a coastal storm

A flood watch is in effect for the Lehigh Valley due to a coastal storm.

According to the National Weather Service, the heaviest rain will focus around Sunday night, then taper off on Monday.

The National Weather Service says to be prepared for localized urban and small-stream flooding around Sunday night, possibly early Monday.

The National Weather Service also said, "Given the recent heavy rainfall, at least 'minor' river flooding will be more likely in portions of our area than with the last system, unless the current forecast rainfall lowers substantially".

Residents along the immediate coast will also want to prepare for more substantial coastal flooding than the last storm. Sunday night's high tide in particular.

Widespread minor coastal flooding is anticipated (localized moderate flooding around Delaware Bay), according to the NWS.

  - Rainfall totals of 1.5 to 3.0 inches are forecast across the
watch area Sunday into Monday, with the heaviest falling
overnight Sunday night. The ground is more saturated due to
heavier rain over the last couple of weeks. A period of
higher hourly rainfall rates will be possible later Sunday
night into early Monday morning, and this can locally enhance
the flooding especially in some urban areas.
