Allentown: Jordan Park's New Outdoor Membership-Free Gym

Allentown, PA - Outdoor fitness nuts of the Lehigh Valley will be in for a treat.

The team over at General Recreation has built a complete outdoor gym experience using Landscape Structures' HealthBeat Equipment at Jordan Park in Allentown.

Steven Hemler of General Recreation and Parl Superintendent Rick Holtzman has worked on many playgrounds in Allentown for many years, but this was their first complete outdoor gym equipment project.

Hemler’s gym design includes a variety of components so that teens and adults of all fitness levels can experience a thorough workout targeting three core fitness areas: muscle strength, cardiovascular health, and balance/flexibility.

Some specific components include an elliptical machine, cardio stepper, and squat press.

The idea was inspired by the beachside gyms on the West Coast.

Green space, a pool, and several basketball courts and baseball fields are located nearby.

General Recreation projects are supported by expert services, including site evaluation, playground design, installation, and community build service.
