100th birthday celebration for Anna Radano held at Kirkland Village in Bethlehem

Anna Radano is celebrating her 100th birthday today at Kirkland Village in Bethlehem where they will be holding a birthday gathering for her at 1:00 pm.

I asked her son, Wiliam if he could tell us a little bit about his mom.

William said, Anna grew up on a small farm in Warrior Run, PA, and moved to Jersey City at age 13. After moving, she still missed Pennsylvania.

In High School, she met her future husband, Bob and in 1947, they married after his WW-II military service.

Both Bob and Anna lived in Roselle, NJ, and raised three sons. In 1965, they moved to Westfield, NJ where she lived until July 2016. In 1990, Bob tragically passed away.

After a heart attack in 1990, Anna became very health conscious and exercised 3 days weekly at her local YMCA. She also started eating a more nutritious and heart-healthy diet at this time and continued exercise into her 90’s.

After experiencing fall injuries that left her wheelchair-bound, Anna moved into Kirkland Village in Bethlehem where she receives excellent care, according to William. He said she also receives excellent palliative care from Ascend Health who are providing several forms of assistance and therapeutic care.

Anna attributes her longevity to exercise, proper nutrition, and social contact, according to William. In the past, she kept her mind active with travel and playing bridge. She is also an avid reader.

Anna believes that after the age of 90, we are entitled to always eat dessert first.

Happy 100th birthday Anna! God Bless you!
