Beware : Rental Scam in the Lehigh Valley

Are you looking to rent a home in the Lehigh Valley?

Be very careful with whom you conduct business with.

Catasaqua Police Department stated that a residential rental scam occurred from January to April 2023.

Properties from around the Lehigh Valley were advertised for rent by someone pretending to be a licensed realtor in the Lehigh Valley.

The con-artist listed rentals on Craigslist or Facebook marketplace.

The con-artist communicated with victims via email or text message asking for a security deposit via CashAPP, Zelle, or venmo and disappeared upon receiving payment.

"Anyone who was victimized by the scam is asked to contact Det. Chris Wittik at 610-264-1407 x 110 or send an email with your contact information and evidence of the scam."
