COOPERSBURG, Pa. - After more than 25 years in business, the Burger King located at 105 S. Third St. (Route 309) in Coopersburg has permanently closed.

The Burger King eatery, operated by GPS Hospitality, opened in 1997 at the site of the former Driftwood Restaurant, a former family-run establishment that operated for more than 30 years.

As reported by WFMZ News, “The restaurant hasn’t been making enough money to support the staff,” according to the general manager. “So, unfortunately, we had to close.”, he said.

All workers employed at the Coopersburg restaurant were given opportunities to transfer to nearby Burger King locations.

Something of interest -

Almost 100 percent of Burger King restaurants are owned and operated by independent franchisees, many of them family-owned operations that have been in business for decades, according to a company description.

Here in the Lehigh Valley, the chain has about two dozen restaurants - including a location opened on Chestnut Street in Emmaus in 2021.
