Coroner identifies elderly couple fatally struck by a vehicle Friday night in Allentown

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Lehigh County Coroner identified the elderly husband and wife who were fatally struck by a vehicle in Allentown on Friday night.


The couple was identified as 83-year-old Frank Wyant and his wife, 80-year-old Marcella Wyant.


According to the news release, the couple was out for an evening walk in their neighborhood when they were both hit by a motor vehicle.


The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma due to a pedestrian/motor vehicle collision, according to the coroner.

It happened around 8:20 p.m. Friday near West Chew and North Main Streets.


Police say the driver remained at the scene of the crash.


In addition to the coroner's office, the Allentown Police Department, the Allentown Police Traffic Safety Unity and the Lehigh County District Attorney's Office are investigating.
