Driver killed in Duryea Hillclimb lost control of vehicle, witnesses tell police

READING, Pa. – Most of the people involved with the Duryea Hillclimb in Reading near the Pagoda knew the man who died in a crash at the event on Saturday, said Mike Daley, regional executive for Blue Mountain Region Sports Car Club of America.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone," Daley said. "He was a fine gentleman."

The coroner has identified the man who died as 66-year-old Kihurani Gakuu of East Caln Township, Chester County.
