Expect to see an increase in air traffic this weekend at LVIA as U.S. Army helicopters use it as a staging area for refueling

HANOVER TWP., Pa. According to Lehigh Valley International Airport (LVIA), approximately 70 U.S. Army military helicopters (Apache, Chinook, and Blackhawk) from Fort Drum will use ABE as a staging area for refueling this weekend.


It's expected to take place Saturday through Monday.

LVIA said that the public should not be concerned with the increased traffic. There is also no public access to the airfield.


This is only an exercise.


Arrivals and departures are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
