Flood Warning in effect for Lehigh County through this evening, flood watch in effect for Wednesday with rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches likely: NWS

According to the National Weather Service, a flood warning is in effect until 9:15 pm this evening for portions of east central and southeast Pennsylvania, including Lehigh and Montgomery counties.

Impacts include flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.




A multi-hazard storm will impact our area on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.


The system will bring strong to damaging winds, heavy rainfall leading to flooding, potential for severe thunderstorms, and dangerous marine conditions to portions of the area.

A flood watch is also in effect from Wednesday morning through Thursday afternoon for

portions of northern Delaware, including the following area, New Castle, New Jersey, including the following areas, Camden, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Northwestern Burlington, Salem, Somerset, Sussex, Warren and Western Monmouth, and Pennsylvania, including the following areas, Berks, Carbon, Delaware, Eastern Chester, Eastern Montgomery, Lehigh, Lower Bucks, Monroe, Northampton, Philadelphia, Upper Bucks, Western Chester and Western Montgomery.



Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations, according to the NWS.


Additional rainfall amounts between 1.0 to 3.0 inches are likely across portions of the Watch area through Thursday.


About two dozen of our river points are forecast to approach flood stage Wednesday into Thursday, with several exceeding flood stage, according to the NWS .


The most intense rain is expected to fall Wednesday into Wednesday evening, and with these high rainfall rates, flash flooding cannot be ruled out.



Excessive runoff may continue to cause rivers, creeks, and streams to rise through the end of the week even when the rain has ended.



Monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
