Freedom High School student killed in early morning collision with parked car in Bethlehem Township, investigation continues

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - A 17-year-old boy was killed early Sunday morning in a collision with a parked vehicle in Bethlehem, according to Bethlehem Township Police.


The incident occurred in the 3000 block of Chester Road in the area of Freedom High School and East Hills Middle School at approximately 1:28 a.m.


According to the press release, a group of teenagers and two vehicles were involved in the crash incident.


During the incident, a 17-year-old male collided with a stationary parked vehicle and died at the scene.



The incident is still under investigation.


Bethlehem Township Police investigators are seeking witnesses and additional information as part of the investigation.


According to a statement posted to the Bethlehem Area School District website, the victim was a student at Freedom High School.


“It is with deep sadness that we communicate this devastating news,” the statement read.


The district will have counselors and additional resources for students and staff available at the high school tomorrow.

Bethlehem Township Police were assisted by Bethlehem Township EMS and the Northampton County Coroner’s Office.


The Northampton County Coroner, Zachary Lysek, and his office are in charge of the investigation. No additional details are being released at this time.
