A groundbreaking ceremony was held for Little Lehigh Phase 1 project this past week.
According to the City of Allentown, this is the first of a two phase project to redevelop what was 1970s-era public housing into brand new, affordable housing units to the site at Lehigh Street and MLK Jr. Drive. The previous nine existing structures on the lot were demolished to make way for five new buildings with a mix of one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom apartments across the 63,000+sf development.
Once complete, the project will feature a playground and community building with space for on-site management and maintenance, community room, resident amenities and Head Start classroom.
