Hazy skies and the smell of smoke possible in the Northeast due to wildfires

If you happen to smell a little smoke today, it is from fires in the central and southern Appalachian mountains and a strong southwest wind, according to the National Weather Service in Binghamton.

According to the NWS, smoky skies can be found across central NY and much of northeast PA. today.

Smoke may also obscure some of the scenic views if you plan on driving Interstate 81 between the Northeast and the Southeast during the Thanksgiving travel weekend, according to a Fox News report.

According to the U.S. Forest Service, the fire is on national forest lands and no structures are threatened.
