Large sinkhole opens up in Palmer Township

PALMER TWP., Pa. – According to a report by WFMZ News, a large sinkhole formed Tuesday night in the same spot where one was repaired just last week.

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation crews were on the scene on Main Street in Palmer Township, where the hole took out a chunk of the road, according to WFMZ.

Two weeks ago, crews filled in a sinkhole at Main Street and Carson Court.

The current sinkhole is in the eastbound lanes, according to PennDOT.

WFMZ says crews were preparing blacktop and getting flowable fill ready Tuesday night.

Some equipment was already on site, in advance of starting repairs Wednesday morning.

Back in 2021, the same stretch of road was closed for several months due to a sinkhole.
