Man charged for attacking and killing another man in Allentown last summer

ALLENTOWN, Pa - District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan announced an arrest warrant has been filed in a 2023 Allentown homicide investigation.

John Albert Garner, 25 of Allentown, is charged with Criminal Homicide and Aggravated Assault, both felonies of the first degree, according to police.

On Thursday, Garner was arraigned, is in custody, and is being held without bail.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 1:15 p.m. March 28 in Lehigh County Central Court.

The affidavit of probable cause is sealed for 60 days.

At 10:20 a.m. July 9, Allentown Police were called to 314 N. 16th St. to assist city paramedics with a male who was reported to be in cardiac arrest, according to police.

The man who called 911 said he had not heard from Alexander Mason Price for several days and went to Price’s residence to check on him and found Price’s body on the floor of his room.

Price, 29, died from blunt force head trauma and his death was ruled a homicide by Lehigh County Coroner Dan Buglio.

The investigation revealed that Garner attacked Price and caused the fatal injuries.

The case was investigated by Allentown Police Detective Theodore Kiskeravage, Lehigh County Detective Daniel Reagan, and the Lehigh County Homicide Task Force.

The case will be prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Eric Dowdle.

As in every criminal case, the fact that an arrest has occurred or a complaint has been filed is merely an accusation; and the defendant, John Albert Garner, is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
