Man lands on railroad tracks after parachute only partially opens after jumping out of airplane

Champersburg, PA,

A skydiving accident took place on Saturday afternoon in Franklin County, Pennsylvania.

According to the Franklin Fire Company, a man jumped out of a plane and as he was falling, his parachute only partially opened. The man landed on the railroad tracks near the airport.

First responders were able to get to him and he was flown by helicopter to the hospital. His condition is currently unknown.

"I've seen a lot of them (local skydivers) land in these trees, but the trees have never grown up to what they're like today. It's so thick you can hardly walk. It's like a jungle back there,” said Chambersburg resident Harold Hoover.

The name of the skydiving company is not being released at this time.
