Pa. DCNR's commitment to electric vehicle charging stations

Over the last few years, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) has focused on installing electric vehicle charging stations in rural areas. Currently, this includes 41 level 2 electric vehicle charging stations at 38 state parks and forests.

The DCNR listed “annual visitation, recreation opportunities, proximity to major highways and roads,” and “the ability to provide charging opportunities at more rural locations” as the criteria for selecting where to develop the vehicle charging stations.

The goal of the DCNR was to decrease any “range anxiety for early electric vehicle adopters and jumpstart the development of electric vehicle infrastructure” in Pennsylvania.
