Police respond to active shooter in Lewiston, Maine, and urge residents to shelter in place

Lewistown Maine Police Department announced that there is an active shooter and posted photos on their social media page asking people if they recognize the individual. People are being asked to shelter in place and stay inside their homes with their doors locked.


According to an ABC report, the shooting took place at a bowling alley in Lewiston, Maine Wednesday evening. There are additional reports of shots fired at a local bar and a Walmart distribution center.


More than ten people are dead and dozens more have been injured, according to reports by ABC News.


Lewiston Maine Police Department released the photos below asking if people recognize the individual to contact the Lewiston Police at 513-3001 ext.. 3327.


A photo of a car was also published on their social media page asking people to please contact the Lewiston Police at 513-3001 ext.. 3327 if you recognize this vehicle. It is believed that the front bumper may be painted black.


Law enforcement is currently investigating at multiple locations.


People are asked that if they see any suspicious activity or individuals please call 911.
