Shooting in Allentown leaves one-year-old and woman dead, another injured

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — UPDATE


Police responded to the 100 block of Chestnut Street for a reported shooting Friday night at approximately 8:45 p.m.


Upon arrival, police discovered three victims suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.


Two of the victims, a one-year-old toddler and a 44-year-old woman both passed away shortly after the incident. The Lehigh County Coroner has ruled both deaths a homicide.


The names of the victims are being withheld at this time to allow the families to grieve in private.


A third victim, a 66-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive as of Saturday morning, according to police.


The incident is one of three reported shootings that occurred between approximately 8:30 p.m. Friday and 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

Two non-fatal shootings occurred on Ridge Avenue and Hanover Avenue.

A suspect has already been apprehended.


Police say the shootings do not appear to be related.


In addition to the coroner's office, the Allentown Police Department, the Lehigh County Homicide Task Force, with assistance from the Lehigh County District Attorney's Office are investigating the shooting.
