Three Philadephia police officers shot while responding to a 911 call involving a domestic dispute

Philadelphia, PA

Three Philadelphia police officers were shot Wednesday night while responding to a 911 call about a shooting at a home, according to a report by ABC News.

In a news conference earlier this evening, Philadelphia Interim Police Commissioner John Stanford Jr. stated. that officers responded to a 911 call just after 7 p.m. ET regarding a person shot in a home as part of a domestic dispute,

The incident started as an argument between a juvenile and his father. The uncle then got involved, according to Stanford Jr. Both the youth and uncle retreated to a room, where the father shot the uncle. The uncle and juvenile then called 911, the commissioner said.

When officers arrived, the father who was then at the front of the house, began to fire at them, according to Stanford Jr. He hit two officers in the leg and one sergeant in the finger. Officers returned fire, striking the suspect, according to the commissioner.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Stanford Jr. said.

According to the commissioner, the officers and sergeant were taken to a hospital and remain in stable condition. The uncle was also taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the officers involved as well as the uncle who is in critical condition.

This is a developing story.
