Toddler shot and killed in Allentown, police investigate and seek public's help

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - On Thursday, March 28, 2024, at approximately 12:00 pm, officers responded to a residence in the 900 block of East Hamilton Street for a reported shooting. according to Allentown Police.

Upon arrival, officers located a toddler suffering from a gunshot wound.

Officers rendered first aid and the victim was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, according to police.

According to Lehigh County Coroner, Daniel Buglio, the 3-year-old was pronounced dead at 12:44 pm in the Emergency Department at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. He said, the toddler, a boy- suffered a gunshot wound.

The ruling on the manner of death is pending the completion of the autopsy scheduled for Friday morning, according to the coroner.

This investigation is active and ongoing and is being conducted by the Allentown Police

Department Criminal Investigations Division as well as the Lehigh County Homicide Task

Force and the Lehigh County Coroner’s office.

Police say there is no physical threat to the community.
