Truck driver shot and killed during argument at truck stop in northern Berks County early Friday morning

According to state police, a truck driver was shot and killed during an argument at a truck stop in northern Berks County early Friday morning.

A truck driver suspected of the shooting fled in a Love’s Travel Stop on Mountain Road near the Shartlesville interchange of Interstate 78 in Upper Bern Township, according to Troop L public information officer. Trooper David Beohm.

The suspect’s truck was located more than 20 miles away at exit 45 (New Smithville) in western Lehigh County, according to witness's descriptions.

A Trooper from the Fogelsville station took the suspect into custody at Exit 40 (Krumsville).

According to Beohm, the argument began while the victim was helping another driver park his truck in the rear lot. The suspect, who was not the person the victim was helping, became angry, and that's when the argument began.

The suspect shot the other man during the argument and is in custody at the state police Hamburg station, according to Beohm.

State police are holding a press conference Friday afternoon to provide additional information.
