Two males suffer burns under Fahy Bridge in Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM, Pa - On December 14, 2023 both the Bethlehem Police and Bethlehem Fire Department responded to the area of New Street and West Lehigh Street for a report of smoke coming from the area underneath the north end of the Fahy Bridge.


Upon arriving, officers located an active fire in this area and found 2 adult males with burns to their arms and hands.


Both male victims were transported to an area hospital,. The injuries do not appear to be life-threatening at this time, according to police.


The fire appears to have started inside a tent that had been set up on a footpath under the bridge. It was extinguished by the Fire Department.


The investigation into the cause of the fire remains ongoing.
