Wind and rain cause power outages and downed trees in the Lehigh Valley

Many have reported that they are without power or were temporarily without power in the Lehigh Valley due to the wind and rain Wednesday evening.


Dispatchers reported numerous downed trees and wires. Gee wrote in that a small tree fell on Cedar Crest Boulevard and possibly hit a car.


According to PPL, more than 4,000 customers in Lehigh County are without power, and more than 1,200 customers in Northampton County lost power.

More than 1,000 customers in Bucks County lost power and in Berks County, almost 300 were without power tonight. Nearly 1400 PPL customers lost power in Monroe County.


Met-Ed is reporting 3600 of its customers are without power in Northampton County.


Marilyn wrote, "Power is out in all different neighborhoods here in Hunterdon County, Union Township, NJ. Sounds like trees and branches are the culprit." She said, " The wind gusts at times are incredible." If you step outside, you can hear tree branches cracking. Scary."


Nancie wrote, "Power off and on so many times I've lost count here in Lower Nazareth Twp."


Kimberly wrote, that a tree fell in the backyard and lost lights for a second.


Rachael wrote, "My drive home from Lehigh Street to West Bethlehem was riddled with debris and large tree branches"
