5 soldiers injured in shooting at Fort Stewart Army base in Georgia, suspect apprehended

An active shooter incident took place at Fort Stewart in Georgia on Wednesday and led to five soldiers being shot, according to the base.
The incident took place in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area and was reported at 10:56 a.m. A suspect was apprehended at 11:35 a.m., according to Fort Stewart.
"There is no active threat to the community," the base said.
The injured soldiers were "treated on-site and moved to Winn Army Community Hospital for further treatment," installation officials said in a post to the base's official Facebook page. The post did not specify their status.
Fort Stewart is located about 40 miles southwest of Savannah.
On social media, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp said, "We are keeping the victims, their families, and all those who answer the call to serve in our hearts and prayers."
President Donald Trump has been briefed on the shooting, according to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt.
