A 1700-acre wildfire in New Jersey has reached 95 percent containment


NEW JERSEY:

As of 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 22, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service reached 95 percent containment of a 1,700-acre wildfire in the area of Jackson Rd. and the Atco Dragway in the Wharton State Forest.

According to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, Forest Fire Service staff will remain on scene and continue to monitor control lines and address areas of concern until significant precipitation occurs to ensure public safety.

The public is being advised that smoke may be visible for an extended period while firefighters work to mop-up the wildfire. Motorists traveling in the area should remain cautious of smoke.


Thankfully, no injuries were reported from this wildfire.
