Police seek 18 year old man charged in shooting and injuring woman in Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM, Pa - On February 28, 2024, at 3:15 pm, the Bethlehem Police Department received several 911 calls reporting a shooting that occurred in the 400 block of Cherokee St.


One caller reported a female had been struck by at least one gunshot.


Arriving officers were informed that the victim, a 22-year-old female, had been transported to an area hospital in a personal vehicle, according to the news release..

The victim suffered a gunshot wound to neck and remains hospitalized with serious injuries but is stable at this time, according to release.


Video surveillance from the area showed the suspect in this investigation entering an involved vehicle prior to the shooting, and running on foot from the area after the shooting.


Based on this video evidence, as well as additional information received, police identified the suspect in the shooting as Allen Jahmell Grimes, 18 years old, of the 600 block of Cherokee St.


Statements from a male who was with the victim at the time indicated that he and Grimes know each other, and that he previously had a conflict with Grimes.

 

Police obtained a search warrant for Grimes’ residence, and around 9:30 pm last evening, the Bethlehem Police Department’s Emergency Response Team served that warrant at the home.


According to the press release, Grimes was not located during that search.


The Bethlehem Police Department is actively searching for Grimes.

 

Grimes is charged with: Criminal Attempt-Criminal Homicide, Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, and Possessing Instruments of Crime.
