Toddler shot and killed in Allentown on Thursday identified

ALLENTOWN, Pa - The toddler who was shot and killed in Allentown on Thursday has been identified.


According to the news release, the incident occurred on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at approximately 12:00 pm in the 900 Block of East Hamilton Street.


According to Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio, the three-year-old boy is identified as Elijah Abreu Borgen.


Elijah was pronounced dead at 12:44 pm Thursday in the Emergency Department at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, according to Buglio.


According to the coroner, the cause of death was due to a gunshot wound to the body.


At this time, the manner of death will be "pending investigation", according to Buglio as the investigation remains active and ongoing at this time.

In addition to the coroner's office, the Allentown Police Department Criminal Investigations Division as well as the Lehigh County Homicide Task Force, with assistance from the Lehigh County District Attorney's Office are all investigating.
