About Lyrics for Lucas Foundation and SUDC:
Lyrics for Lucas Foundation was created in loving memory of Lucas DiGuilio, who tragically passed away at the age of 23 months; his cause of death was ruled Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC).
SUDC affects approximately 1.5 out of every 100,000 children
SUDC is 45 times less common than Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS)
Occurs in children over the age of 12 months and is assigned as a diagnosis once all known causes of death have been ruled out
Most instances occur between the ages of 1 and 4 years
Some cases affect children as old as 19

Lucas DiGuilio was not quite 2 years old when he passed away from SUDC (sudden
unexplained death in childhood), and Lucas’ parents have made it their mission to
eradicate, bring awareness to, and comfort those in need who have dealt with this directly.
The new Lyrics for Lucas Lounge at The Children's Home of Easton will provide a
therapeutic sensory room for the residents on campus, creating a much-needed space for healing and support.
SUDC is the sudden and unexplained death of a child over the age of 12 months.
To this day, little is known about the underlying cause of SUDC.
Upon learning the diagnosis, Al and Maria DiGuilio founded the SUDC Supporting Foundation.
The Lyrics For Lucas Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization based in Easton, PA.
Their mission is to provide support to families and professionals affected by SUDC, while also advocating awareness of SUDC research in communities worldwide.
Recognizing the importance of providing additional support for this cause, Al and Maria created the Lyrics for Lucas Foundation in order to, “raise more awareness of SUDC, support further research, and hopefully help develop a future in which SUDC no longer exists.”
For this reason, the Lyrics for Lucas Foundation has teamed up with the SUDC Coalition in order to create this event which not only draws attention to SUDC, but whose proceeds will also provide monetary support to SUDC research, SUDC Families and to help support the Children’s Home of Easton by designing and building the Lyrics for Lucas Serenity Lounge for the children with special needs whom reside there.
